Pangoni + Sage Pastel

For Kenyan landlords, agents, and property firms who keep their books in Sage Pastel — sync rent receipts, expenses, owner disbursements, and tenant records straight into your Pastel ledger, no re-keying. The Sage Pastel integration is currently in beta with a select group of clients.

What the Sage Pastel integration does

  • Post rent receipts to the correct general ledger account in Sage Pastel.
  • Track owner disbursements and management commissions as separate ledger entries.
  • Sync tenant and owner records to Sage Pastel customer and supplier accounts.
  • Push maintenance and operating expenses with per-property cost codes or projects.
  • Generate audit-ready reports that match your Sage Pastel chart of accounts.

The Sage Pastel integration is in beta with a select group of clients and is not yet generally available. Available to every account today: export Pastel-ready CSV import files, or use the open Pangoni API — your developer can wire Sage Pastel to Pangoni directly. See the API overview for endpoints and authentication.

Why does the Sage Pastel integration matter for Kenyan landlords and agencies?

Pangoni's Sage Pastel integration lets Kenyan property firms sync rent receipts, owner disbursements, management commissions, and operating expenses — posting them to the correct Pastel general ledger accounts and matching your Sage Pastel chart of accounts for audit-ready reporting.

Sage Pastel is one of the most widely used desktop accounting packages among Kenyan SMEs and the accountants who serve them — Sage Pastel Partner, Sage Pastel Xpress, and Sage 50cloud Pastel have been the books of record for many property firms for years. The gap has always been getting M-Pesa rent collection into Pastel without someone re-keying every receipt. Pangoni closes that gap: rent, expenses, and owner statements flow into the right Pastel accounts and cost codes automatically, so the ledger your accountant trusts stays current.

How the Sage Pastel integration works

Once shipped, setup looks like this. Your data flows in the background; you keep working in both tools.

1

Connect your Sage Pastel company

Connect via Sage 50cloud Pastel or Pastel-format import files, depending on which Sage Pastel edition you run.

2

Map your general ledger accounts

Rent, deposit, service charge, repairs, utilities, management fee — each maps to your Sage Pastel general ledger accounts.

3

Map properties to cost codes or projects

Assign each property to a Pastel cost code or project so income and expenses report separately per property or owner.

4

Choose your sync cadence

Real-time with Sage 50cloud Pastel, daily, or a month-end import file. Most property firms use daily or month-end.

5

Keep an audit-ready trail

Every synced line carries a Pangoni source ID as a Pastel reference, so an auditor can trace back to the original transaction.

Real use cases from Kenyan landlords

  • A managing agent running units for several owners: each owner maps to a Pastel customer account and each property to a cost code, so owner statements come straight out of Pastel.
  • A property firm whose external accountant works in Sage Pastel Partner: the data is already in Pastel each month — no emailed spreadsheets, no re-keying M-Pesa receipts.
  • A landlord moving off spreadsheets onto Pastel: Pangoni feeds clean, categorised rent and expense entries from day one.

Not on Sage Pastel? Connect any system with the Pangoni API

If the accounting or property tool you rely on isn't listed yet, you're not stuck. Everything in Pangoni is available through the open Pangoni API — properties, tenants, leases, payments, invoices, and reports — with OAuth 2.0 authentication and webhooks for real-time events.

Your developer or accountant can wire Pangoni to whatever system you already run, so information flows automatically and nobody re-keys the same data across tools. And every account can export CSV files ready for import into most accounting packages, today — no waiting on a native connector.

The Sage Pastel integration will be included on Pangoni Elite (KSh 3,500/month for landlords) and all Agent and Agency plans at no additional charge. You only need your own active Sage Pastel licence.

Yes. Each property maps to a Sage Pastel cost code or project, and each owner can map to a Pastel customer account, so income and expenses report separately per property or per owner within one Pastel company.

Yes. The Pangoni API is fully open, so your developer or accountant can wire Sage Pastel to Pangoni today, and every account can export Pastel-ready CSV import files. See the API documentation at api.pangoni.com — webhooks for real-time events, REST endpoints for data, OAuth for authentication.
